University of Mannheim: W1 Assistant Professor of Finance

To strengthen the Finance Area at the Business School we wish to fill a position of a W1 Assistant Professor of Finance (without tenure track). The position is located within the Finance Area of the Business School.

 

Responsibilities

  • Openness to interdisciplinary research and willingness to regularly participate in the research seminar of the Finance Area
  • Teaching English-language courses in the field of finance at all levels (B. Sc., M. Sc., PhD).
  • Dedicated collaboration in university self-administration, closeness to students and enjoyment of teaching

Requirements

  • University degree
  • Doctorate in finance or related areas
  • Pedagogical aptitude
  • The ability to develop research projects which, due to their high quality, can be published in leading finance journals
  • International experience, internationally visible research and the ability to teach in English
  • Experience in acquiring competitive third-party funding is an advantage

3rd Structured Retail Products and Derivatives Conference

The conference aims to bring together researchers on options and derivatives from around the world.

We cordially invite the academic community to submit their papers. There will be a special track on structured retail products. For this track, we also encourage the submission of work in progress, with an extended abstract of approximately 300–800 words. Topics for this track may include, but are not limited to:

behavioral aspects, hedging strategies, market microstructure, pricing policies, product innovations, product valuation, regulatory issues.

Ihr Profil:
  • Sie haben ein Studium der Wirtschaftswissenschaften (oder verwandten Studiengängen) auf Masterniveau, vorzugsweise an einer Universität, mit quantitativem Schwerpunkt Ökonometrie/Statistik mit überdurchschnittlichem Erfolg abgeschlossen oder stehen kurz vor dem Abschluss.
  • Sie besitzen ein ausgeprägtes Interesse an wissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen und verfügen über sehr gute Kenntnisse der Ökonometrie, der Zeitreihenanalyse bzw. des statistischen Lernens mit Anwendungen in der Finanzmarktanalyse und/oder empirischen Makroökonomik.
  • Idealerweise besitzen Sie Vorkenntnisse in der Programmierung mit R, Matlab oder Python.
  • Idealerweise haben Sie bereits erste Erfahrungen in der Lehre gesammelt.
  • Sie besitzen ein hohes Maß an Einsatzfreude und Zuverlässigkeit und sind in der Lage, selbstständig zu arbeiten.
  • Sie haben die Fähigkeit, wissenschaftliche Forschungsergebnisse überzeugend zu präsentieren.
  • Sie verfügen über sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse und sind bereit, diese ggf. weiter auszubauen.
Unser Angebot:

Aarhus University: Assistant Professor in Energy Economics, the Climate and the Green Transition

The Department of Economics and Business Economics at Aarhus University, invites applications for junior positions (post docs, assistant professorships, and combinations thereof) starting in the fall of 2025 or as agreed.

Candidates within the fields of energy economics, economics of the climate and the green transition, climate finance, energy finance, and the logistics of the green transition, are invited to apply.

The positions are funded by CoRE, Center for Research in Energy: Economics and Markets, via a major grant by the energy trading company InCommodities. The center focuses on research in a broad sense within the fields mentioned above with focus on quantitative economics including econometrics and empirical research relevant for energy markets, the climate and the green transition.

Different positions are available at the post doc level (typically 2 years) and the assistant professor level (4 years). Contracts can combine position types. The cover letter should describe the preferred position type applied for.

We offer favourable conditions regarding research facilities, data access, time devoted to research, travel support, etc. For non-Danish researchers, a favourable tax-scheme exists.

The Department of Economics and Business Economics has around 120 faculty members covering the fields of Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Logistics and Operations Research, Business Analytics and other fields. The department faculty is international, and the working language is English. The department hosts several research centers providing an active research environment and the department has several seminar series with ample influx of visiting researchers. The Department of Economics and Business Economics services several undergraduate and master-level programs. The PhD program has an annual intake of around 15 to 20 students.
