The Institute of Banking and Finance at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a

Professor (f/m) of Finance and Business Analytics pursuant to § 98 of the University Act (UG)
(40 hours per week; permanent employment according to the Austrian Law on Salaried Employment (AngG); expected starting date January 2nd 2019)

The finance departments at the Karl-Franzens-University Graz deal with research questions related to the topics "financial markets" and "financial institutions". In particular, quantitative methods for investigating empirical questions are used. The professorship will deal with the empirical research of financial markets and financial institutions (especially banks) with a focus on economic and societal issues, ideally with an emphasis on business analytics, FinTech or related fields. The successful applicant should actively promote the development of new research topics and research projects. Furthermore, the willingness to cooperate with the research network "Models and Simulation" and the core area "Smart Regulation" and to foster their development is expected. In addition, she/he should offer, in coordination with related institutes, in particular the Institute of Finance, needs-based teaching at the bachelor's and master's level which includes basic education and specialization in the areas of corporate finance, financial intermediation, investments and international financial markets, and at the doctorale level of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. Teaching should here be refined towards the topics business analytics and FinTech. The candidate is supposed to have experience in raising third-party research funding and contract research and to be networked internationally. In addition, we expect gender mainstreaming competence.
